In 1965 Harry Ridley was the farm manager at Chilbolton farm. His remit, from the owner, Sir Richard Boughey was a simple one; he was to find ways to increase the fertility of the land without heavy investment. Harry’s answer for this was a focus on grassland management, which began with his implementation of a seven-year rotation. The management of sheep was integral to this rotation system. The sheep grazed on two parts of the rotation, as well as on other rented ground.

So, when it came to settling on a new name, we followed his lead, and for the last 40 years his son James, along with the help of his siblings Mick and Anne, has been running the business that we now call Rappa.
